GREEN Program Soiree
The GREEN Program is excited to invite you to a bash we'll be hosting as part of SPARC's Food Week! We develop short-term experiential abroad programs for student leaders passionate about sustainability and are committed to providing students across the globe with experiences that will prepare them for their transition into the professional world as the next generation of change-makers. That's why this April we're hosting a celebration to bring together our GREEN alumni, Philadelphia-area student leaders, as well as companies and organizations also doing incredible things in the realm of sustainability. Please join us!
At the event we'll connect you with these innovative and unique companies with the hopes that you can one day work together towards the same goals and in similar fields. Of course, the whole event will be held in true #onlyontheGREENprogram fashion so we promise it will be fun. There will be a ton of sustainability conscious students, food, drink, and we even heard a small rumor about a DJ...We just need you to show up and be ready to take the event to the next level! The exact details regarding date and time are below and please do bring your friends! In our support of SPARC and all the hard work of student leaders like you, we're offering $5 off the ticket price for SPARC members and half the price you pay for your ticket will be sent directly back to SPARC. You can register for the event here and don't forget to use your SPARC Code: SPARCGREEN We have an event page you can check out with more details too. |

Iron Chef Competition
Participate in or attend an iron chef competition focused on local, healthy, and raw foods. In order to participate you must attend a training session the week before.
This event is a 3 course vegetarian meal served for parents and children of the housing development, and prepared by volunteers. The goal of the event is to kick off the Iron Chef competition we will be having with the kids with Rad Dish the following week, and to get the parents and kids amped about healthy food as well as give them some resources (recipes, prices, nutrition info). The event is being led by Chef Ras Emil (Cafe Ole, Atiya Ola's, Millcreek Farms--all in west philly--super rasta dude). Ras is all about conscious preparation and right heart and mind when preparing food. Also, to assure the event is successful, we want all the recipes to be on point. Thus for the 4/9 event, we want any of the volunteers interested in cooking the meal (not necessarily attending) to come to a cooking training with us on 4/2 at 6 pm, also at Beckett. (sign up here) Volunteers will be assured a free meal, and outside of community center residents, we're allowing for other attendees (Temple, universities, local families etc.) with the caveat that they pay $5. We're capping outside attendees at 100 people since the space is small and time is tight. |

Philly Farm and Food Fest + Food Policy & the Next Mayor Forum
The 4th annual fest is a huge marketplace of local deliciousness. Proceeds benefit Fair Food and PASA whose work supports local farms. Student tickets are available through SPARC.
In 2011 Fair Food Philly and PASA (Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture) teamed up to create a new annual marketplace for farmers and local food producers. Our shared goal was to assist small businesses in growing their bottom line by providing a low-cost venue accessible to a diverse audience of potential customers. Fest is also a fundraising event for Fair Food and PASA, with proceeds going to support our non-profit educational and technical assistance programs for food producers. The first Fest was held in 2012 and drew nearly twice as many visitors as expected. Since then Fest had grown exponentially each year. 2014 marked a doubling in size from our first show, and 2015 is shaping up to be even bigger! |
Discount tickets are no longer available, but you can still purchase tickets at the regular price!*NEW EVENT* Philadelphia food policy mayoral forumThe Philadelphia Food Policy Advisory Council (FPAC) invites you to a free, public forum on Food Policy and the Next Mayor at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Sunday, April 12th from 11:30am to 1:00pm in conjunction with Philly Farm and Food Fest for an exciting opportunity to discuss the future of food policy in Philadelphia.
